High Jinx
Bats symbolize death and rebirth. Sometimes they are known as the 'Guardian of the Night'. The bat is largely misunderstood and so therefore many of its symbolic meanings are inappropriately fear based. The bat is a symbol of rebirth and death because it is a creature that lives in the belly of the Mother....Earth. 
On summer evenings I often see bats flying over my garden into the trees. They are secretive creatures, much like other winged beings I know.  I'm sure young fairies get up to all sorts of mischief in the trees with the bats when the moon is full and bright
