This may have come from the shape of the plants' dry seed pod, which bears an eerie resemblance to a miniature skull. It is therefore no surprise that fairies will collect as many of these pods as they can. Not only will they be protected from dark magic, but these pods hold the secret to youth and regrowth....the seeds of life within.
